Dear Members and Friends of UUCR,
Thank you to those of you who have welcomed me so warmly into my first weeks here! I hope this finds you well and happy and enjoying peaceful transitions to fall schedules. I am honored to join you on a path of lifelong learning in your faith community and grateful to serve this church alongside staff and volunteers who cherish and celebrate children and youth. I am looking forward to this Sunday and to sharing water, words and time with you and your loved ones. There will be a ‘Blessing of the Backpacks’ during worship and all are invited to bring their school bags. (No worries should anyone forget-we can create virtual packs!) Terry and Stacy Hill will welcome our youngest friends in the Sawyer Nursery/Playschool while older children and youth are invited to Ingathering Worship at 10:00am. All are invited to bring some drops of water from summer journeys to share during Water Communion. During this intergenerational service children will have an opportunity to sing, move, light candles, share water and community. There are busy boxes at either entrance to the sanctuary for children to enjoy as well. I look forward to meeting you after church to share ice cream and fun and some games. This week I will meet youth at S.O.S. and SHYP meetings on Sunday evening when both groups gather to kick off their church year with pizza! The R.E. calendar is full, offering classes and activities to support children and youth as they grow and naturally search for truth and meaning in their lives.
