Come celebrate the winter holidays at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading! In addition to our usual Sunday services, we have several special holiday services throughout the month of December.
December 8th, 9:15am and 11am
Blue Christmas
A worship service for those coping with grief, loss, and other struggles during the winter holiday season. This festive time of the year can also be difficult and stressful. Many folks may feel deeply the loss of a loved one. There’s often grief and sorrow related to Christmas and the holidays being a little different than they used to be. This special service will be a chance to acknowledge that this can be a tough season for many of us.
December 15th, 9:15am and 11am
Special Holiday Music Service led by Mary Cunningham, Music Director
Our halls will be decked with flowers and greens this Sunday, and the rafters will resound as our choir brings you songs of the season from classics to contemporary anthems: an eclectic mix of both beautiful and light-hearted holiday music for the choir, small groups and soloists. We’ll also share readings and poetry, light candles and sing beloved carols to deepen the experience and “Glow” of holiday cheer.
December 21st, 7:00pm
Winter Solstice Service
A ritual celebration of the Winter Solstice. Friends of all ages are invited to gather in Fellowship Hall at 7:00 pm. On this darkest night of the year, we bring our open hearts and minds to our communal altar. Together, in song and ritual, we will raise warmth, spirit and intention in this celebration of winter and the promise of returning light.
December 22rd, 10am (one service only)
Living Nativity Multi-Generational Service
We rejoice in the everyday miracles of the season, and invite all who wish to play a part to help make the story of Jesus’s birth come to life.
December 24th 5:30pm and 7:00pm
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
We welcome Christmas with stories, carols and special music, and candles. Come to sing the familiar songs that are always powerful, and experience the magic of candlelight in the darkness.
