Adults & Young Adults
Unitarian Universalist sources inspire us, across time and tradition, to be people of good faith and right action.
Acknowledging that faith development is an unfolding, lifelong process, we provide engaging, transformative experiences for learners of all ages. Ongoing events are listed below. Please also visit our pages on worship services, spiritual connection opportunities, and social justice opportunities; and see our calendar for a complete list of offerings. All are welcome to join us.
Young Adult Gathering The young adult community at UUCR is active and welcoming, and open to young adults ages 18-24ish. The group meets online twice per month to check in and hold space for one another, to share joys and sorrows, and to stay connected. Young adults often attend Sunday service together, as well as other social events. New members are warmly welcomed; please reach out to the Minister for more information.
Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression Study and Reflection Guided by a Black Lives Matter church resolution passed in Spring 2020, members and friends are charged to reflect on and acknowledge a system that oppresses Black people, learn more than we now know, and engage directly in the political and spiritual movements for change in our communities and our country. Supporting our ongoing commitment to become anti-racist individuals and to create anti-racist communities, we offer a discussion series that centers the wisdom and lived experience of Black people. We are reflecting on books, essays, and podcasts from Imani Perry, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nikole Hannah-Jones, Ibram Kendi, adrienne maree brown and others. This series also includes worship led by a guest preacher and staff/leadership commitment to identifying our “next best step” in this ongoing work. The link to join one or more discussions is provided in the newsletter, or you may email the Minister to learn about the next scheduled offering.
Family Support for Beloved Caregivers of Young People A monthly gathering for people actively caring for or nurturing young people. This shared space for UUCR members and friends offers time to reflect on the challenges of parenting and caregiving during these unprecedented times. All who support children and youth are welcome. If you are new to UUCR, please contact our Member Services & Volunteer Coordinator for more information.
Coming of Age for Adults Drawing on treasured curricula for youth and adults, this 5-week series offers activities and reflections to engage adults with their ever-emerging faith and Unitarian Universalist identity. Registration information is provided in the newsletter, or you may email the Minister.
Chalice Circles UUCR’s small-group Chalice Circles deepen and broaden personal spiritual growth, foster connections and caring, and build strong community. With a trained facilitator, members discuss themes and readings and share what’s on their hearts. Circles always have an “extra chair” awaiting someone who’d like to join.
Our programming is designed to strengthen and sustain connection. A mix of in-person and online programs are offered. Please let us know if there’s something further we can do to meet your needs.
We’re glad you’re interested in our program. For information or to chat, you are invited to contact the Minister–we look forward to hearing from you!
