Summer 2025 Community Chapel

Summer 2025 Community Chapel

We are excited to announce our Summer 2025 Community Chapel topics! Building on a beloved format we started a few summers ago and fostered beautifully by Rev. Laura this past year, we will be gathering in person for engaging discussions on Sundays from June 29th through August 31st.

But first, join with Unitarian Universalists virtually from around the country and the world for the Sunday Worship Service of the Unitarian Universalist Association’s General Assembly on Sunday, June 22nd from 11 – 12:30 pm.

Embrace the electrifying spirit of the year’s largest UU gathering, where we come together in unity for an awe-inspiring Sunday worship celebration like no other! It’s a vibrant, communal worship experience that promises to uplift your soul and ignite your passion. And here’s the thrilling part – everyone is invited to be a part of this event through a live stream accessible to the public. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary gathering of hearts and minds!

Use this link (https://www.youtube.com/@theUUA/streams) and then click on the icon for: “GA 2025 Sunday Service” (second icon in first row).

Then join us in person for our Summer Community Chapel in Fellowship Hall for the rest of the summer! In this more intimate setting than our formal worship services, we will explore a variety of interesting ideas and concepts, with discussions led by various congregants. We cannot wait to delve into these topics with you!

Here’s what’s coming:

June 29: “The Gift of Transformation”

Led by Sharlene Reynolds Santo

It’s not as complicated as many make transforming ourselves sound. “Make a bit of room. Leave a little space. That may not sound like anything radical or revolutionary. But it turns out that it is one of Life’s favorite ways to make us into something new.” Come and share what transformation means to you?

July 6: “Friendship”

Led by Sharlene Reynolds Santo

What is friendship? Aristotle said, “[f]riendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art…. It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.” Come and share your ideas of friendship.

July 13: “Let’s Talk Boundaries: What, Why and How”

Led by Tirzah Mason

Boundaries can be simply understood as that place where I end and you begin. But defining , representing, maintaining and defending boundaries is anything but simple; it is some of the most important and challenging work we do in our personal and organizational lives. Come and explore how healthy boundaries impact our health and the health of our community.

July 20: “Interdependence”

Led by Rob Craig-Comin

Douglas Steere, a Quaker teacher, says that the ancient question, “Who am I?” inevitably leads to a deeper one, “Whose am I?” – because there is no identity outside of relationship. You can’t be a person by yourself. Join us in addressing the other questions of whose life is bound up, in obvious and invisible ways with our own life.

July 27: “Lessons From General Assembly”

Led by Sherry Cook and Mandy Neff

Join us as we explore some of the lessons and messages from this year’s Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) General Assembly (GA) which was held June 18th to 22nd.

August 3: “Living Love Through the Practice of Repair”

Led by Andy Gatchell

“When the cracks come, who doesn’t desire – even demand – to restore what once was? Join us as we explore how repair of what is broken can “be a way of making ourselves or parts of our lives ready for what comes next”.

August 10: “Building Resilience and Resistance”

Led by Jamie Irza and Julia Ferraro

Join us for a discussion about the ways we can use and improve our abilities of resilience and resistance to help us navigate challenges within ourselves and the challenges we face in the world around us.

August 17: “Renewal”

Led by Marsha Howland

When was the last time you allowed yourself a day in which nothing was produced, no items were checked off your list, no problems were confronted, no solutions were searched for? Let’s explore together this idea of quiet as a path to renewing our spirit.

August 24: “The Path of Wonder”

Led by Andy Gatchell

We go out into the world in search of big things that arouse in ourselves a sense of wonder, but what if we went inside ourselves to find, and experience, that same sense of wonder? Join us as we seek this sense of wonder within ourselves.

August 31: A Day of Service To UUCR

Led by Bob and Tirzah Mason

Join us in a time of preparing our building and campus to welcome us all back for the new regular church year, which begins the following Sunday, September 7th.

September 7th: Ingathering Water Communion Service!

Join us for the first worship service of the church year with our annual Ingathering Water Communion ceremony! Bring water from your summer travels or from your home to participate in this beautifully collaborative, all ages service!
