Scholar, feminist, and abolitionist Margaret Fuller was one of the most renowned women of the 19th century even though her life was cut short at the age of 40. While the men she influenced—among them Emerson, Thoreau, and Hawthorne—are more often remembered in the 21st century, Fuller’s boldness and brilliance inspire and challenge us today.
