The tragic death of Mr George Floyd occurred on May 25, 2020. To mark this anniversary, I am inviting you to join me this coming Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. Last year, George Floyd’s killing and the Black Lives Matters protests that followed, showed that many were saying “enough is enough” when it comes to racism, especially the form experienced by Black people in our nation. This anniversary is a timely reminder that we need to continue the work started last year, if we are really committed to ending injustice. If UUCR is to speak prophetically to society on these issues, we must show that we are committed to doing justice.
I am inviting you to come to the church to signal, in silent witness, our commitment for justice, and against racism, ignorance, and hatred. Due to the existing COVID-19 restrictions, the event is limited in number and socially-distanced (see link below for sign up.) If you are unable to attend the church event, I invite you to show your commitment by holding a sign calling for racial justice at your places of residence.
Please sign up for one of two half-hour shifts at the church, you are invited to bring signs, but please remember that this is a silent witness.
