Gun Sense
… helping promote public safety measures
As Unitarian Universalists we affirm the worth and dignity of all people and promote justice, equity, and compassion in human relations.
These values impel us to address gun violence, an increasing concern at all levels, from local to international.
Gun violence can be prevented. Did you know that Massachusetts has the second lowest rate of deaths by gun violence in the US? MA grassroots gun sense groups have been working to educate politicians and the public, enabling the passage of over a dozen commonsense gun laws, many with bipartisan support.
How can I help? The UUCR Gun Sense committee invites members and friends to help promote public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence and advance responsible gun ownership. At least initially, we are partnering with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots movement with chapters in every state, and Everytown for Gun Safety, the national movement for gun safety that includes Moms to make a difference in our region, our state, and our country.
We are presently texting voters on behalf of national gun safety issues. Future activities will likely include lobbying state and local legislators, supporting gun sense petitions on the state and national level, and educating people about gun safety.
We’d love for you to join us at any level of involvement. Please contact our Member Services & Volunteer Coordinator for more information.
