Food Pantry Collections

Ongoing needs at the Reading Food Pantry include hot chocolate, mayo, rice pilaf and tissues. Most needed this week are canned meat and fish. Many guests ask for canned salmon, clams and sardines. Other favorites include canned chili, beef stew and hash. Our friend at the pantry shared that people generally do not tend to donate these items, even when asked. She suspects it has to do with individual tastes and that perhaps folks don’t purchase and donate items that they themselves either don’t eat or don’t like. This feels like an invitation to really listen for what is requested and for answering those requests. Let’s collect some canned proteins! There is a bin on Loring Porch where you may drop off items any time before February 3rd. We’ll talk about this with our children at next Wednesday Warm Up. Any donations will be gratefully received!
