Flower Communion, June 20

Two Ways to Participate!
In 1923, Unitarian minister Dr. Norbert Fabian Čapek (1870-1942), created the Flower Communion service as a celebration of connection. Nearly one hundred years later, our congregation will host our own annual Flower Communion service on Sunday, June 20th!
The first way to participate is by sharing examples of the ways in which you have witnessed acts of service, commitment and connection within our beloved church community over the last year. Our worship leaders will then name these many acts of service and connection during our Flower Communion ritual. Contributions can be included through the end of the day on Friday, June 18th. You can read more about it by following the link found in the newsletter to the submission form.
The second way you are invited to participate in our Flower Communion is on Saturday, June 19th, when congregants are invited to bring a flower of your choice to church. The flower can be from your own yard or garden, or from any other source.
When you arrive at church, you will find a collection spot with a vase in the mailbox entrance on Summer Street. Please place your flower in the “communion” vase, representing your place in our beloved church community. This collective bouquet will celebrate beauty, diversity and connection to our community, where each individual flower becomes part of a united whole. The same can be said about our church community — it would not be the same without each and every one of us. The beautiful bouquet celebrates our community, and it will be the center of our Sunday, June 20th service. You are invited to stop by church after the service on Sunday from 11:15 – 1:00 pmto select a flower to take home with you, a symbol of what you receive from the community to which you so generously give.
