Chalice Circles
Deeper and Broader Spiritual Growth
Chalice Circles are small groups that meet regularly, usually monthly, to reflect on and discuss significant life topics. Over time, participants build deep connections with one another, with the congregation, and with the sacred.
A group usually consists of 4-10 members who are led by a trained facilitator. Each meeting is structured and includes a check-in among the members, a reading, and a discussion of members’ reactions, reflections, and thoughts about the readings.
Topics over the years have ranged from world religions to more personal topics such as friendship, community, and nature. Common to all discussions are the following five aspirations:
- Deep Listening is a gift for both the speaker and the listener.
- Worship: Chalice Circles augment and strengthen our shared experience.
- Community: Small groups allow us to build new and deeper personal connections.
- Learning: Reflecting on and discussing together the mysteries of our world and our spiritual paths leads us to deeper understanding.
- Service: Chalice Circles allow us to serve our community and the needs of one another.
How Can You Join a Circle?
Chalice Circles are open to anyone who wishes to participate; we leave a chair open at every meeting. Because of the nature of Chalice Circles, we ask that you try to attend all gatherings. Groups typically run from late October through June. Different groups meet on different days and at different times.
