Our hymnal includes these words by the poet, May Sarton: “Help us to be the always hopeful gardeners of the spirit, who know that without darkness, nothing comes to birth, and without light, nothing flowers.” As a relational, multi-generational community of memory and hope, how do these words speak to us today? How is our church community a garden, and we the gardeners? What do gardens have to teach us about empathy, acceptance, resilience, restoration, and hope?
