This week’s service, “The Thanksgiving Myth – Native Perspectives on Gratitude,” looks beyond the familiar Thanksgiving story to the fuller, often untold history of the Wampanoag and other Indigenous peoples. We will explore their stories of loss, resilience, and survival and reflect on how Native communities have long practiced gratitude as a daily way of life grounded in respect, reciprocity, and connection to the earth. In this season of thanks, we’re invited to honor Indigenous perspectives, acknowledge the true history behind the holiday, and embrace a more honest and inclusive understanding of gratitude.
This week’s service will be led by Guest Minister, Rev. Linda Goodman. Rev. Linda is an ordained interfaith minister. Her spiritual path meandered through many faith traditions, and she enjoyed 30 years as an active Unitarian Universalist, offering music and lay-led worship services. Most recently she has served as Presiding Minister, spiritual mentor, and music minister at the Tree of Life Interfaith Temple in Amherst, NH. Now retired from full-time ministry, she is more actively enjoying a circuit of guest ministry at UU churches throughout New England.
Service begins at 10:00am. All are welcome, bring a friend!
