There are so many wonderful events going on here at UUCR! Last week’s newsletter was packed with details about everything from a Gospel Mass to a Pride March to an afternoon “Following Our Callings” workshop.
In order to let the wider world know about our spiritual community and to draw in those who could find a home here, the Governing Board identified the need for a Marketing Team. Last fall, Christine Lusk, at At-Large board member, led a Marketing Kick-off dinner to gather together those interested in and knowledgeable about marketing issues in order to formulate a Marketing Team and consulting resources for them from within our congregation. From that meeting, an energetic and enthusiastic marketing team has formed, consisting of Christine, Jules Collins, Shanna Weston, Meg Soens, our Acting Minister, and myself. The group has met several times throughout the winter to narrow in on a population to target with marketing and to identify appropriate communication modes for that population. The group is ready to start its first pilot campaign aimed at local families with young children and has compiled a list of outreach avenues including area newspapers and online event bulletin boards.
Although the group’s focus is marketing, there currently exists no Public Relation Team at our church. In order to assist with PR efforts, the Marketing Team plans to create a resource page on our website for any group to use to outreach for events. Additionally, the Marketing Team has offered to publicize events using the tools they have compiled.
