UUCR offers Nursery Care on Sunday mornings during both worship services!

Sawyer House, one of three buildings on the UUCR campus, houses our Sunday morning Nursery-Playschool program for babies and children through age 3.9 (or one year prior to PreK).  Offered through our Religious Education program, Nursery-Playschool is open during our first and second church services (and on single-service Sundays) offering childcare for parents who attend worship. The program is staffed by Terry Hill and Stacey Hill, both professional early childhood educators, with support from adults and older youth from our congregation.  Our staff and volunteers welcome our youngest friends into a supportive, gentle environment informed by Unitarian Universalist values.  Additional child care is offered for nursery and elementary aged children during some church meetings and other events. Kindly check with our Director of Lifespan Religious Education for more information.

(All of our Sunday morning Religious Education programming is open for visitors and there are no fees.)

Sawyer Nursery School, is a non-profit early childhood pre-school that operates Monday through Friday throughout the school year and has provided preschool fun and early learning experiences to Reading’s children for over 50 years.

UUCR holds the license for the school, and by charter, church members make up more than half of the school’s board positions. At least two educational spaces are reserved for children of UUCR families each year. New members are always welcome on the school board, which meets monthly. If you have an interest or experience in early childhood education and would like to help guide the school’s mission, contact the Sawyer School Board Chairperson.

Sawyer offers a Tuesday/Thursday morning program for 2.9 and 3 year olds, a Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning program for 4 and 5 year olds, and the option of a weekly ‘Lunch Bunch’ extended day for all.

To schedule a tour, contact school Director Deb Harvey at 781-944-9581,sawyer_nursery_school@verizon.net  or visit their website. If you know of a preschooler (between 2.9 years and 5 years) who would like to attend the school, feel free to inquire about that as well. Nursery schools don’t come much better than this!
