The Mothering Connection - Spirituality for Mothers and Grandmothers

The Mothering Connection - Spirituality for Mothers and Grandmothers

Thursday evenings, starting September 20 through the end of May.
Either every other Thursday OR the second Thursday of the month (to be decided in the first meeting):
Intern Minister Betsy Tabor, Facilitator
Loring 203

When a woman becomes “Mother,” just about everything changes: her responsibilities, her body, her relationships, how she thinks of herself, how others think of her…and, to put it mildly, how she spends her time. However a woman responds to motherhood, it profoundly affects everyday living and how her life plays out. What fertile ground for spiritual growth! Mothers of all ages owe it to themselves, not to mention everyone with whom they live and work, to carve out time for spiritual well-being.

A new way to get to know people across generations, “The Mothering Connection” gives UUCR mothers and grandmothers a time away from life’s details and demands to reflect—a pause to nurture spirituality.  We will begin with a brief check-in and opening words, sit in silent meditation for ten minutes or so, then reflect on a reading/topic, first individually, then in discussion with one another. On the first meeting’s agenda is a group vote on whether to meet monthly or every other second Thursday. If space allows at New Years, registration will open for new participants.

Registration is required. Maximum 12 mothers and grandmothers.
