Two members smiling together

The groups below have a special focus of fellowship and foster heartfelt connections.
Many activities welcome both youth and adults. For more
information please contact our Member Services & Volunteer Coordinator.

Caring and Sharing  In tangible ways–driving to medical appointments, bringing meals, and making phone calls–UUCR volunteers assist church members and friends in times of illness, emergency, or other personal situation.

Ferry Beach  Church members and friends gather each June at the Ferry Beach Conference and Retreat Center in Saco, Maine, to relax, reflect, and have fun. Cooking and eating together, chatting on the porch, building sand castles, and enjoying Talent Night are highlights of this long-standing UUCR tradition.

First Sunday Fellowship Potluck  This committee gathers people of all ages together once a month for a lively meal and the enjoyment of each other’s company. Potluck meals are hosted October to May, after church service.

Healing Shawl Ministry  provides comfort in the form of a handcrafted shawl or lap blanket during a time in one’s life when it may be needed. The shawls and blankets are thoughtfully made by UUCR congregants.

Ivy Chord Coffeehouse  The coffeehouse brings nationally recognized folk singers and musicians to UUCR, filling the sanctuary with sound and fellowship and raising money for the church. To bring these community events to life, UUCR volunteers engage and host performers, sell tickets, run tech, bake, and greet.

Kris Kringle Fair  Each fall, all of UUCR turns out to organize and run the fair which the surrounding community attends. It’s one of our biggest social events and fundraisers. Working side by side on this widely loved event, newcomers, long-time members, children, youth, and adults all get to know each other better.

Last Tuesday of the Month Book Club  gathers from September to May to discuss books chosen by the members. They welcome all who enjoy discussing new ideas in a pleasant social atmosphere.

Liberal Ladies  By sharing information, knowledge, and stories–their own and those of invited speakers–this group nurtures spiritual growth, lifelong learning, and deepened relationships with each other and the UUCR community. The Liberal Ladies’ rich tradition goes back almost to the founding of our church (Our History). The group is open to all who are interested.

Men’s Group  This group meets monthly to share life journeys and activities. Books, movies, travel, health, family, and other topics are always on the table. The group is open to all who are interested, and they’re always glad to have new participants.

Partner Church Committee  This group supports the congregation in nurturing our church’s relationships with partners abroad: the Unitarian congregation in Alsójára (Transylvania) and Lesly, a Unitarian Universalist college student in the Philippines. These ties–via letters, emails, videos, instant messaging, and two visits–have enriched our congregational life for many years.

Quilters add beauty to our sanctuary with lectern hangings, occasionally craft stoles for our ministers and intern ministers to celebrate milestones, and design and create a quilt that’s raffled at the Kris Kringle Fair each November. Participants vary from year to year but always enjoy friendship and fellowship as they work.

Spring Fling is a smaller yet equally festive version of the Kris Kringle Fair, combining a yard sale, snack bar, plant sale, and more. It’s a fundraiser and another chance for UUCR members and friends to connect with each other and the wider community.

Starlight Soiree  UUCR adults and youth enjoy potluck appetizers and desserts, bid on items in the live and silent auctions, and sign up for group events such as guided walks in local parks, an international dinner, or a piano concert. It’s a party in February, an auction, and an evening of fellowship!
