Buddhist Meditation Group
We welcome you to the Buddhist Meditation Group @ UUCR. Our Sangha is part of Buddha Heart USA. We’d like to extend a heartfelt and open invitation to any and all who would like to experience and learn more about Buddhism and meditation.
We serve the communities North of Boston, MA including Reading, North Reading, Lynnfield, Wilmington, Stoneham, Woburn, Wakefield and the surrounding area.
We meet weekly (monthly July – September) in Reading Massachusetts at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading. You’ll find information about our Sangha, location, meeting times, and more on this website. Please see our schedule for more details. There is no cost to attend our meditation sessions, although donations for sustaining our work are greatly appreciated.
What We Do
It is our intention to provide meditation practices that are simple and expedient. They are meant to offer peace to our Sangha members and guests. We hope that you might find peace in the Dharma though these efforts.
All are welcome. There is no experience necessary. A typical meeting includes the following activities:
- Opening ceremony/invocation
- Brief Dharma discussion
- Qi-gong exercises
- Meditation & Chanting practice
- Closing (recitation of the Five Limitless Thoughts)
Meditation & Chanting
Our Sangha meditation practice includes silent meditation and chanting of the name of Buddha Amitabha (Chinese—Amitofo). This is central to the Pure Land Practice and offers the most benefit to all practitioners.
The group typically meets Monday evenings from 7:15 – 8:15 PM, in the Sanctuary at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading, 239 Woburn Street, Reading Massachusetts.
Please wear loose comfortable clothes. We have chairs, but if you prefer a meditation cushion please bring one along.
