Dear Members and Friends,
We have initiated the switchover to a new website and newsletter format for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading (http://uureading.org). We hope that this new website fosters a strong online community within and for our broader church community.
We are confident that you will come to find the new website easy to use, with all the information and resources you've come to rely on right at your fingertips. Along the way, if you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to contact the webmasters for assistance. (There is a link toward the bottom of each page for contacting the webmasters. You'll find it under "Contact Us" in the area with the dark green background.)
There are several things that you should be aware of that have been deliberately changed, coincident with the switchover:
1) You're receiving this email because you're a member or friend of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading, or you've previously subscribed to receive notifications from the church. The previous newsletter and nUUws email notifications have been combined. This single church news mailing list is now the list that the church will use to email all information about upcoming activities and programs, as well as other important church alerts:
- At the beginning of each week, "The Week Ahead" will be distributed directly to you, by email. This will be a copy of "Windows", the church newsletter, now published weekly during the church year;
- Before each worship service, a reminder email for the service will be distributed;
- Caring and Sharing notices, regarding births, deaths and illnesses among the members and friends of the church, will be distributed as needed;
- One short mid-week church program or event reminder will be distributed by the church office, as needed;
- If something that is both unexpected and important happens at some other time (such if worship services are cancelled due to a snow-storm), then a special email may be sent to this mailing list as well.
2) There are no longer any deadlines for submissions for "Windows", the church newsletter. Newsletter content should be submitted as soon as it is ready for publication, and it will be processed and then posted online as soon as possible after that. The online newsletter will now reflect the very latest information we have. (Authors of newsletter content can even configure it so that it automatically publishes and expires itself on specific dates, so there is no reason to hold back any item that is ready-to-go.)
- Infrequent contributors to the church newsletter should submit their items by emailing them to churchnews@uureading.org. Submissions will be transcribed by the webmasters and submitted by them, on the contributor's behalf, to the administrator for publication in the newsletter.
- Regular contributors to the newsletter will be authoring their items directly on the website by the end of January. (Training will be available in December and early January.) Until then, regular contributors to the newsletter can submit their items by emailing them to churchnews@uureading.org.
3) The amongUUs mailing list has been replaced by "Member to Member", an online bulletin board on the website, which is restricted to registered website users who are also members or friends of the church. Instructions for submitting messages for "Member to Member" can be found at this URL:
http://uureading.org/online-guide/542-member-to-member
Limited rich-text, including pictures, is now permissible in newsletter content, and in "Member to Member" items.
The Online Guide for the new website includes more detail about the changes as well as some instructional videos. You can find the Online Guide here:

Please be sure to review the Website Policies which can be found here:
http://uureading.org/website-policies
As discussed in the Personal Information Policy, please take this opportunity to contact the webmasters if you wish any of your contact information reserved.
Please note that it may take a period of time for your service provider to start directing you to our new website instead of the old website.
In closing, the webmasters would like to express their gratitude to all those who helped them design and test this new website. All the helpful input and feedback has had a major positive impact on the end-product you can see today.
